Mount Inasa is one of the most famous viewpoints in Nagasaki, Japan.
At 333 meters above sea level, the mountain offers wide panoramic views of Nagasaki City and its harbor.
The view from the summit is especially well known at night. In fact, Mount Inasa is counted among Japan’s Three Great Night Views, together with Mount Hakodate in Hokkaido and Mount Maya in Kobe.
Ways to Reach the Summit
Nagasaki Ropeway
The Nagasaki Ropeway connects Fuchi Shrine Station with the summit in about five minutes.
The gondola has large glass panels, allowing passengers to see the city and harbor from above. During the day, the view stretches across Nagasaki Bay. At night, the city lights create a dramatic skyline.
Inasayama Slope Car
The slope car opened in 2020 as another way to reach the top.
It departs from the middle parking area and takes about eight minutes to arrive at the summit. The vehicle was designed by Ken Okuyama Design and features a modern black exterior that blends into the surrounding landscape.
Large windows provide clear views throughout the ride.
Summit Observation Deck
At the summit, an observation deck offers a full 360-degree view of Nagasaki.
Visitors can see the harbor, mountains, and the dense city layout from above. The night view is particularly famous and attracts many photographers.
Access
From Nagasaki Station, take a tram or bus toward Mount Inasa.
From the base area, you can continue to the summit by ropeway or slope car.
